History Of the Hideout
The Hideout is a radio show currently airing on Real Radio 104.1 WTKS in Orlando, Florida. The show is hosted by El Jefe and J-Dubs, with producer Tommy Bateman, and board-op/phone screener/radio bottom Chunks. The show is an all-talk radio program that discusses a variety of topics, including news and pop-culture, but also positions itself as the ultimate in "reality radio", that is their own lives are a part of the show and the storylines that evolve overtime continue both on and off the air. The show is still relatively young in comparison to other shows in the same radio format, but with an ever-growing fan base and pool of characters, it will be on the air for a long, long time.

History

Michigan

The inception of the show began in Lansing, Michigan at 92.1 The Edge, a station which has since changed formats. It was there that Jefe and Dubs first met, Jefe just out of Texas Tech University, and Dubs interning at the station as a student of "Spec Howard's School of Broadcasting Arts." The two found chemistry quickly and along with their friend Shaffee, created the night-time local sensation, the "Skankshift." The show was popular with listeners, but management didn't like any one of the trio, and they all were eventually fired.

Move to D.C.

Jefe, always on the lookout for the next job, landed a board-op position at 106.7 WJFK in Washington, D.C. Jefe quickly befriended program director Cameron Grey, and after months of prodding, convinced him to hire J-Dubs from out of Michigan. It was at this time that Jefe was working as sometimes producer for a number of shows on the station including Ron and Fez and Don and Mike, as well as running the dump button for Ron and Fez, and Dubs began working as co-producer of Ron and Fez alongside Wonder Boy. Ron and Fez had just moved to D.C. permanently from New York City, after the station they had been on in New York, WNEW-FM, switched formats following the infamous Opie and Anthony Church Sex Stunt.

El Jefe's Hideout

Jefe's friendship with Cameron proved valuable as he managed to convince him to give he and Dubs a chance to do a Saturday Night Show on the station. Cameron agreed, and soon after the first episode of "El Jefe's Hideout" premiered Saturday, March 22nd, 2003, just two days after the Iraqi War began. This poor timing for a first show would've seemed like doomsday, but the boys pulled through it, with a decent, if not poorly-produced and run show. The show continued for many weeks on later, including a third co-host at the time, Spoon, another employee of WJFK that had lived in the area his whole life, and was included to make the show seem more local. After a while Spoon left the show for a variety of reasons, and super-caller and psycho-stalker fan, Tommy Bateman, joined the show as its producer, working for free at first just because he loved the show so much.
The show continued on, changing time slots constantly, sometimes 11pm-3am, other times 9pm-1am, other times 7pm-11pm, which is what the show finally settled as its regular weekly timeslot. The early episodes contained some memorable moments, and showed glimmers of how much potential the duo and the show had. Some of these bits included calling Jefe's mom to tell her he had smelled her marital aids, throwing rocks at each other, and granting Matt Albert, a show regular, a lap dance while he ate fried chicken. The show continued to gain more regular callers and characters, and even managed to have a live appearance at Tequila Beach in Washington, D.C., a show that was ruined by the fact that the feed was on a shared line with the bar's credit card machine.
It was at this time that the Ron and Fez show held the "Saint Pat's Spat", a live appearance to feature boxing matches between various station members, including one bout between Jefe and Dubs, where if Dubs won the show would have to change names to just "The Hideout", as well as getting his head shaved, and if Jefe prevailed Dubs would have to get "El Jefe's Hideout" tattooed on his body. Needless to say the taller J-Dubs took the night with Jefe barely sinking any blows at all.

The Hideout

On Monday, May 3rd, 2004, The Hideout switched from the weekend gigs, to a weeknight show, 11pm-1am, following the Ron and Fez show. This gave Jefe and Dubs what they wanted, a daily show that was all talk on a major market station, satisfying some of Jefe's narcissist and self-esteem issues from high school. The show took a while to find its groove, but soon struck a chord with many listeners that were up at that hour, including security guards, janitors, and 19 year-old virgins. More and more callers became show regulars, and soon they had an established show style, populated mostly by random off-topic discussions, and of course J-Dubs own flavor of homo-erotic humor.
Ron and Fez, the show lead-in and where Dubs was still a producer, were incredibly helpful in promoting the show by always asking at the end of theirs what was going on in The Hideout that night, where Dubs would usually respond with not knowing and it would usually be something gay or humiliating. Because of this close relationship, most of the The Hideout's listeners were carry-over from Ron and Fez, and even by association former Opie and Anthony listeners. Thanks to a thriving underground community based on both of those shows, The Hideout was carried on several live internet streams and even recorded and archived by many of the more rabid fans.

New Characters

During the first summer of the show the boys would meet some of their most important characters, a few of which are still with them today in even larger roles. The first was an intern who worked on both The Hideout and Ron and Fez, Cigar Sid, who would later become Sidcada, a fat 19 year-old who would become most remembered for never caring about getting naked, and also getting arrested for drunk driving after a show one night. Another, Matt Albert, an obese 20 year-old black virgin, who become the original Hideout "passholder", the most regular caller, and make more appearances than anyone else not directly affiliated with the show. Also, another intern from Ron and Fez, Bennecio, would join the show as Alex Corolla, for his direct likeness to Adam Corolla, and would become perhaps the most vital part of the show, as his regular abuse, humiliation, and self-esteem destruction would fill up any dead air time they have, and create more related storylines than anyone else.

Bits

The show found many of it's origins during the early inception, some of them carry-overs from the Saturday Night Show. One bit which had begun at this time was "Whose Weekend Was It", which was to change from the normal Monday talk show bit of talking about their weekends, into a game show where listeners had to guess who did what. Other bits included many homo-erotic themes like dildo fencing, pizza-roll roulette, and gay chicken. Many of the bits also involved physical abuse and humiliation, including shooting Corolla with paintballs, making Sidcada walk around in his underwear, and most disturbingly, playing "shocking roulette" with their genitals.

The Fall of WHFS

On January 12th, 2005, a local station in D.C., the legendary 99.1 WHFS, flipped formats from alternative music to Spanish music, becoming WZOL, El Zol. This flip at first seemed not to big a deal to The Hideout, moreover just a funny bit as Jefe and Dubs often made jabs at DJs on that station, Big O and Dukes. Quickly it began to be apparent that the ripple effects from the station change would be felt fast. The morning show from that station, The Sports Junkies, had been on WJFK before being there, and had large contracts outstanding, so management decided to move them to midday's on 'JFK, following Howard and before afternoon show Don and Mike. This forced a move of midday blowhard Bill O'Reilly, to nighttimes, as his contract and clout in the company was greater than anyone had imagined. Of course by moving him to nights, it meant The Hideout had no home, and so that Friday, January 14th, the show aired its last weeknight show in Washington, D.C. Later, Bill O'Reilly's clout became even more apparent when his distaste for being on tape delay at nights, caused his move back to midday's, reducing The Sports Junkies to only three-hours, cutting-off Howard right at 10am, and creating an odd half-live, half-taped O'Reilly Radio Factor. Any chance The Hideout would return was ended after WJFK announced Loveline, a show that had also aired on WHFS, would move to the station as well.
After a few weeks off the air, the announcement came on that The Hideout would return in the lush 3pm-7pm timeslot... only it would be on Sunday afternoons. Needless to say mixing gay jokes with people coming home from late-day church services was an odd mix, but their talent managed to overcome some of the bizarre shift that their careers had just taken. It was evident that they had no interest in doing the Sunday show for long, and so they ended up not doing several shows because they had flown to various places to interview for jobs, including a station back in Detroit, Michigan, and more notable 104.1 WTKS in Orlando, Florida.

The Real Radio Move

The last Sunday show aired in April 2005, after the boys announced they had accepted the nighttime slot, 7pm-11pm, on 104.1 WTKS, also know as Real Radio. After some adjusting, including Tommy Bateman questioning if he would continue producing in this new locale, the show started making ground and friends down in Florida. Bringing along Corolla, whose name was changed in effort to stop alluding to what was now a competing radio show, The Hideout became the tight foursome it is today, Jefe, Dubs, Bateman, and Chunks.
In Florida since May of 2005, The Hideout is steadily building a strong fan base, mostly of younger fans as the hosts themselves are young, and with the help of a legal internet stream from the station's website, also finding new and old fans online. The show has taken new directions by often doing political commentary, usually composed of listing incredibly sarcastic and sardonic observances about pop-culture and the media, but never fails to get to far from their base of constantly abusing Chunks, and doing several very gay things each show.

Names To Know

The Core Show

  • El Jefe (AKA Alex Himenez, Alex Cruz, Alex Kong) - Co-host and handles most of the show structure, including going in and out of breaks, controlling the direction and flow of bits, and setting everything up so listeners know what is happening. A graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in Communications, Jefe moved to Lansing, Michigan, where he met J-Dubs and would later move with him to D.C. to form the beginnings of The Hideout. Is known most for never allowing himself to be abused on the show, talking a lot of game with girls, even though it never seems to go anywhere, and declaring himself very gay friendly and a very upfront feminist. Jefe suffers from an overwhelming fear of rejection, probably stemming from his parents' divorce at a young age, a topic he talks about a lot on the show. Jefe's mom is a Special-Ed teacher, and his father is a big shot school superintendent, which seems to fuel all of Jefe's ambition in seeking his father's approval. Jefe also was married for a short time from after college until sometime after arriving in D.C., which he says ended because his wife couldn't handle that he had to talk about their personal lives so much on the air, and she held some job in government where such information wasn't good to get out.

  • J-Dubs (AKA Justin Johnson, Sergeant Spongetounge) - Co-host and handles most of the comedy and jokes on the show, and rarely afraid to say something incredibly disturbing or offensive, often leading to Jefe pressing the dump button. A graduate of Spec Howard's School of Broadcasting, started as an intern who worked with Jefe and Shaffee at stations in Lansing, Michigan. Most known for pushing the homo-erotic side show, he also is the only member of the show with a girlfriend, who lives with him and followed him to both D.C. and Orlando, and is deathly afraid of both white condiments and young children. His name comes from the fact that when Jefe first met him, he thought he looked like a white Jay-Z. Dubs' mother is a janitor at the school he attended, and his father isn't talked about too much accept to mention.

  • Tommy Bateman (AKA Tommy Bats, Maddox) - Producer of the show who began his involvement as a caller back in the Saturday Night Show days. After inviting himself on to help the boys produce bits and book guests, he was early on ridiculed for not making any progress with women, leading to a now basically unheard of audio clip, "Tommy's a fag, Tommy's a virgin!" Turning that around and becoming a psycho-sadist woman abuser, Tommy is now known as a poon-hound, however his incredibly high standards, and most girls fear of the fact he carries a shovel and rope in his car trunk at all times, has scared several of them off. His name comes from the fact that his idol is Christian Bale, mostly because of how in shape he is, and Bale's performance in American Psycho, as an insane, psychotic, delusion, woman-hating, serial killer.

  • Chunks (AKA Alex Corolla, Bennecio, Kevin Rogers, Tony Piggs) - The show call screener/radio bottom, Chunks has positioned himself as the bottom of the totem pole, even below inanimate objects such as the desk and stapler. He is THE go to guy for any kind of stunt, abuse, or humiliation in front of others. Being in Florida for only a few months, he already had to endure the hardcore challenge with the Monsters in the Morning, which almost caused him to leave the show, and had to swim in a swamp full of gators. He routinely has his phone number given out, and whenever he remotely has a chance with a girl, the boys never hesitate to ruin all hopes he has with her, usually by doing something that will end in the girl laughing at Chunks' man boobs. Despite this, his written bits, including an account of a train trip with Matt Albert and himself, and his "Diary of a Fat Man", prove that Chunks does have comedy skills and hopefully more of these bits will be added in the future. Chunks' uniform of choice is a bra and panties, and whenever he makes an appearance will inevitably be wearing them at some point.

Characters

  • Matt Albert - This now 21 year-old, then 19, 570 lbs. black virgin first became a show regular in the Saturday Night Show days. Most of his bits included attempting to get him laid, culminating in him going on a date with a frothic (fat-goth-chick) and getting no action still. His jokes are some of the most biting the show has, and can always be counted on for a racist joke at the drop of a hat. He currently lives with his mom in Maryland, but hopes to get out and move to Florida to be a more regular part of the show. He is also the only character with an immortal "passholder" membership to the show, making him a regular fixture for all-time.

  • UFO Phil - A discovery of Bateman's, Phil is a guy who believes in good and bad aliens, and will call in regularly to warn people about them. He will often make sure the show can keep a secret, and ask them the password, Zaxon, to make sure they are the good aliens. He is also a George Lucas expert, and often tells the boys about the lunches he has with George when they discuss Star Wars. He is also well known for his alien related songs including "Bad Aliens Really Stink", "Anakin", and "Alien Hideout". Often when Phil calls in it will sound like he is breathing heavy or near the end that he is mashing the keypad, but really this is just the wires he uses to transmit his signal. His website can be found at http://www.ufophil.com .

  • Tony Piggs - The Hideout sexy engineer, often known for eating turkey legs straight off the bone, yelling at the boys for not cleaning up properly, and just generally being angry.

  • Maddox - A work-out dude who is always obsessed with pumping-iron with the dudes and wants to know if the dudes want any A-N-A.....

  • Sir Gary the Prophet - A Real Radio caller for several years, Sir Gary calls in to tell the boys they have a very entertaining, and very informative show. Also likes to talk about his Church Services on Miller Dillard Street, and occasionally discusses what he has been doing lately and what he likes to eat.

  • Porno Dan - A porn-producing friend of the show who has brought a number of porn stars into the studio to show off to the boys. On one occasion he brought in a girl who was willing to have sex Chunks, but he refused because he thought he was above it, even though moments later he would smell used toilet paper. Dan is also known for holding parties at various clubs where he ends up having sex with several chicks, usually in bathroom stalls or stairwells.

  • Derone - A Jewish comedy teacher, Derone also works on a number of the shows at the Clear Channel Compound. He is known as being very asexual and awkward, and admits himself that he knows a lot of chicks and has a lot of chick friends, but is totally unable to ever close the deal. On one occasion Jefe and Dubs left Derone on the air with just himself and two girls, and that became one of the most cringe-worthy moments in radio.

  • Angel - A temporary board-op for the show, Angel is a Latin guy who has learned to talk mostly like a white guy, and is best known for discussing on air how both he and his brother made out with one of their first cousins at a wedding reception.

  • Tuddle - A temporary board-op/producer for the show who had even visited to D.C. and met the boys long before the move, as he was a former intern on the Ron & Ron show the used to air all over Florida. Tuddle was also a member of the Drew Garabo show, the show that had occupied the timeslot on WTKS that The Hideout now occupies, when it was cancelled in early 2005.

  • SBK - AKA Soul Brother Kevin, a co-host of the Shannon Burke show, SBK has sat in for Dubs on the occasion he has had to go home to Michigan, and also did a few different "Chunks Beatmix Beatdown" live on the show. Also hosts his on show Saturday nights on Real Radio called SBK Live.

  • Denise the Piece - A girl Chunks met early on while being in Florida and challenged to a basketball game, where he played super aggressive, so much so that the week after she visited a Chiropractor for back problems. On another occasion she came in-studio to present Chunks with a gift she had bought him, which turned out to be a nice set of bra and panties for him to wear.

  • Erica the Promotions Goddess - An employee of Real Radio who works in the promotions department. After Chunks fled to D.C. after being beaten during the hardcore match, she coaxed him to come back by saying she would give him a kiss. When he was getting ready for the kiss, she instead spit in his face and fled the room.

Former/Off and On Characters

  • Man-tan - AKA Fairfax Mike, Man-tan worked at a local Thursday's restaurant, and would always come on the show to lend his black opinion, even though everyone always said he was a Wayne Brady twin. He is also remembered as being a part of the night that found Sidcada drunk and passed out.

  • Shaffee - A friend and former co-worker from Michigan, Shaffee is the show sports anal-lyst, but generally only calls in to share his poon getting stories, and how he hates being in the radio businesses and warns all the listeners never to join it because it will ruin you.

  • Belcher - Another obese black man who would come on the show during the D.C. days to be the host for "Whose Weekend Was It", and also do his sexy Barry White voice. A religious man, it's kind of shocking he would have involvement in a show that was so regularity blasphemous, gay, and abusive to one another.

  • Fairy Lady - A character found during the last few Saturday Night Shows, Fairy Lady was a middle age woman, who was also a former stripper, and believe fairies were real and wanted The Hideout to build her a dollhouse so she could put it by a river with some milk and cream, because apparently this is what attracts the fairies. The boys often would mess with her by having Dubs leave the room and pose as an angry fairy and would yell at her. She is also known for incident in which Matt Albert received a lap dance from her, and supposedly "finished" right there on the show.

  • Halloween Goddess - A fan and caller of Ron and Fez, Goddess also participated in many Hideout events, and was considered The Hideout mother for their stay in D.C.. She worked at Costume Rental Shop, and was responsible for bringing in Fairy Lady for appearances.

  • Lefty - Another friend and co-worker of the boys, like Shaffee, from Michigan who was best known for having sex with more Hooters waitresses than any other person. Considered to be way too good looking for radio, Lefty visited the boys in D.C. on occasion.

  • Private Pyle/Kane - A schizophrenic multiple-personality caller who became a show regular, Pyle/Kane suffered from believe he was both a gentle scared guy, i.e. Private Pyle, but when provoked would become the WWE wrestler Kane, and would and could kill you if he felt like it. Being very, very large and much stronger than he appeared, he worked at stock room until being fired for flipping out, then moved to Atlanta to join a wrestling school. Not to be confused with Private Kane.

  • Bi-Curious BJ - J-Dubs' cousin from Michigan, who was friends with Dubs for most of his childhood. The two did a lot of odd crazy things, but on the show became most known for calling in after hooking up with a chick he met over the internet and needing a ride back to Michigan because he was so poor all the time.

  • Crossbar - A former model who would call in from the rehab center she was living at. She got her name because she would form the sexual crossbar between Jefe and Dubs, and on one occasion Chunks even visited her and got no action with her at all, even though she said she would have been into it.
  • Sideshow - A friend of the show who also ran the board for the Saturday Night Mixtape, a replay of the weeknight shows that aired on WJFK. On one Saturday took calls from Jefe and Dubs who were both drunk and trying to find a way to the Shark Club in Falls Church, but had no idea where it was or where they were. On another occasion, when The Passion of The Chirst came out, Sideshow dressed up as Jesus and went to a movie theater and basically just heckled people, becoming "Sideshow Jesus".

  • Hot Jenn - A girl who Chunks had classes with at George Mason University, and came on the show on a regular basis. Once she even helped Chunks in a lie where she said she had had sex with him, but after he took the bit too far she called back to see it was all a scam. CAW-CAW!!!

  • Quasi - Another friend of the boys from back in Michigan who is best known for having sex with any prize pigs or other radio girls who would come up to the station, one time even have sex with a girl in their boss's office. Later he would go to work at a software firm where his boss is the father of one of those same prize pigs, which worried him, but enough so that he didn't have sex with one of that girls' friends.

  • Heckler - A nightly caller who would always without fail make a joke about Jefe's mom. He in fact was a police officer who just drive around listening to show, and actually came in studio on one occasion to give the boys Christmas gifts.

  • Stacy - Of the "Stacy Show", Stacy hosted a show that followed The Hideout when they aired as the Saturday Night Show, after "The Phenoms" were cancelled. Her show was mostly a sex and relationships discussion show, but she would often come in early to hang out with the guys and chastise Bateman for hitting on her. She apparently had a very successful real career and eventually her show ended because she could not find to do it. On one occasion she called into The Hideout when they were in weeknights to let them talk to Jared from the Subway commercials, whom she had just met.

  • Spoon - The former co-host of the show in the early Saturday Night Show days, this member had three children with three different despite being a staunch Republican and Christian. Spoon would later leave the show for a variety of reasons. He also lost to Bateman in a boxing match at the Saint Pat's Spat live show for Ron and Fez

  • Rev 9 - A local D.C. band that would come in studio many times, often bringing with them strippers that members of the band were dating. On a key appearance they brought a few girls who lap-danced Matt Albert while he ate fried chicken.http://www.rev9music.com

  • Johnny Poonani - Johnny ran the board occasionally for The Hideout, and also would chime in with his own thoughts. Lately, Johnny has been running the board for Ron and Fez, and also hosts his own show, "The Soccer Show", on WJFK airing Sunday nights.

  • Various - AKA Cloominati, Craig Coleman, Various would call in under a different name each time, always delivering one of the funnier lines of the night. Was also known as Lewtard on the Don and Mike show, until being banned from the show after a blowout with Don. Does a show at http://www.craigcolemanshow.com/ .

  • Cheezeface - A carryover from both Ron and Fez and Don and Mike, who was banned from the station for being way too much of a creepy stalker, Cheezeface also ran one of the underground internet streams.

  • Perrynoid - Another carryover from Ron and Fez, Perry also contributed a few bits, but was also a part of the infamous night Sidcada got arrested for drunk driving. He does a show at http://www.thecosmiccircus.com/ .

Interns

  • Sidcada - Sidcada began his internship with Ron and Fez under the name Cigar Sid, as he was known for so often bringing in cigars for Ron. Sid became good friends with The Hideout, and in particular Matt Albert, whom with he became known as "The Comedy Dumplings", since they were just two funny fat kids. Sid got his new monicker when, during the Summer of 2004, Cicadas swarmed over the DC, Virginia, Maryland metropolitan, and the name came up and somehow stuck. One night after the show Sid went to a bar, while still underage, with Man-tan and Perrynoid, and got incredibly drunk and then drove home, where he ended up swerving into the opposing lane and got pulled over by the cops. Having a clean record he ended up only serving one day jail, but it still created a lot of on the air drama.

  • Badmonkey - Badmonkey joined the show when they went to doing weeknights in Washington. His main contribution was setting up the show website, http://www.radiohideout.com , which hosted all of the shows photos and videos, as well as a very popular message board that helped spur disscusions and a show community. Badmonkey's main talent seemed to be video editing, as he created some classic videos with music and graphics, and even produced a full Corolla/Chunks music video when they made a live appearance at Coyote Ugly. After the show moved to Florida, Badmonkey took the site down as he was mad with the boys for calling the new web guy Baddermonkey. This lasted for a while until, after Freda Sorce, wife of Don from Don and Mike, died and Badmonkey and Jefe made up realizing how stupid and inconsequential it was in the first place.

  • Putin - Putin joined the show in Orlando, Florida, at first being known as Number 1, while he awaited his new radio name. After a while Jefe pointed out how much he looked like Vladmir Putin, the leader of Russia, and the name stuck. He has so far been known mainly for being creepy, and talking ad nausem about Everquest and other nerdy activities. On one episode he even questioned the validity of math.

  • Hooch - Hooch started, like Putin, as a number name, in her case Number 2. She hated that name for what it referenced and after a long discussion of lesbian leanings, and also for her look, became known as Hooch, in reference to Marla Hooch from the movie "A League of Their Own". After talking about being with girls her mom raised hell, and they don't talk about it too much any longer, and instead she is now best known for hitting on every male that enters the studio.

Related People

  • Ron and Fez - Even Jefe and Dubs would admit that they owe this radio duo more credit than anyone, as they promoted them all time, carried characters and bits over between both shows, and was even instrumental in providing the boys the contact to WTKS. Ron and Fez currently still air in Washington, D.C. on 106.7 WJFK, but are rumored to be going to XM Satellite Radio to join Opie and Anthony on XM 202.

  • Opie and Anthony - While not directly connected, Jefe and Dubs have always said they like this show, and share many of the same fans in both D.C. and Orlando. This show is now aired on XM 202, and likely The Hideout would like to be on Satellite as well, possibly on XM 152 where several other Real Radio shows already air. It has become awkward as of late, as Opie and Anthony and thier pests have directly attacked both Shannon Burke and Jim Phillips, who are also heard on Real Radio, but the boys, taking a cue from Ron and Fez, that they like everyone who's doing their own thing, and aren't looking to fight with anyone.

  • Don and Mike - Another show that would have the boys on the show very often, particularly during the 2004 football season when Dubs made several tattoo related bets with host Don Geronimo, and lost all of them. This show also had a bitter rivalry with Opie and Anthony, but as the boys have learned from Ron and Fez they never involve themselves in radio wars because they know in radio it all comes back around and you have to or need to work with someone you may have had a beef with.

  • Big O & Dukes - Two radio peers of the boys who managed to get a nightly gig on WHFS before the station flipped formats. Chad Dukes often called into the show because he hated his position in doing music radio where you only got to do 90 second bits at a time, and was jealous of the boys. After 'HFS switched, and The Hideout lost their slot, Big O & Dukes gained the Saturday night slot formerly occupied by the boys, which for a while seemed like a rivalry. Later Big O & Dukes would get the midday slot on Live 105.7 in Baltimore, and began feuding with Don and Mike as Dukes was a massive fan of Opie and Anthony, and carried on their tradition of attacks.

  • The Sports Junkies - Had worked at WJFK before switching to WHFS, until switching back to 'JFK after the 'HFS format change. Jefe had tried to start a football game versus this show before The Hideout lost their timeslot, and on one occasion Private Pyle/Kane even approached this show's members to try to get them to sign a contract to agree to play. Chad Dukes of Big O & Dukes, interned on this show while it was at WHFS.

  • The Phenoms - This was a show that followed The Hideout when it was doing the Saturday Night Show, usually starting at 11pm. The show was basically another sports talk show in the vain of The Sports Junkies, but was later cancelled. Brett Oliverio, the lead member of this show, would later go to work full time with The Junkies.

  • Drew Garabo - The show that had occupied the 7pm-11pm on Real Radio before it was cancelled in early 2005. Jefe and Dubs have said repeatedly they have no beef with this guy and know what it is like to get kicked off a station and wish him the best luck of in radio, and have no ill-will feelings at all. Drew is now on 105.9 O-ROCK a competeing station in Orlando.

  • Cameron Grey - The former Program Director of WJFK, now the 'Operations Director', who helped get Jefe and Dubs on the air. Cameron also was a part of a fantasy football draft the boys did where the loser each week had to stunt. The two stunts Cameron had to do were to once be on air by himself for five minutes, and another time paid for Bi-Curious BJ's trip home after being stranded in Alabama with a chick he met over the Internet. Cameron is also a known gambling addict, and plays many home games and tournaments in the D.C. area.

  • Alan Leinwand - The General Manager of WJFK at the time Jefe and Dubs were hired, and gave the greenlight on both the Saturday Night Show, and the show going fulltime on the weeknights. Alan would later leave the station for the Sales Manager position at WXRK in New York, the station Howard Stern airs from.

Other Facts

  • "J-Dubs Treehouse" is the name of the show whenever Jefe is absent, until it goes horribly run because Dubs can't run the show as smoothly as Jefe. This version of the show first came into existence on one occasion when Jefe went to a concert and Dubs and Batemen attempted to do things, until they ran out of pre-prepared comedy bits and fell in to just playing songs for the remainder of the show.

  • The bit that had Jefe and Dubs thrown off the air in Michigan was when they called a Youth Crisis Center because they wanted to annoy someone that couldn't hang up on them. It was maybe or maybe not done in bad taste, bad after it aired they were shortly fired.

  • While at George Mason University, Chunks did a show on the college radio station, a station that had no tower and only aired over the internet and the internal campus television, channel 22, which Chunks refered to as the "Deuce, Deuce". The show was called "The Kyle and Al Show", Al referring to Chunks' real name Alex, and Kyle, another radio personality who works on the Elliot in the Morning show in Washington, D.C..
